The Student Success Tutor (SST) focuses on student retention and satisfaction by providing exceptional support for academic needs. This student-cantered role involves addressing student queries, organizing workshops, and facilitating teaching-related activities. The SST acts as an advisor to students, offering guidance and support to help them succeed academically. They liaise between students, lecturers, and other team members, ensuring that students receive the necessary support for their academic progress and retention.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to students regarding available resources and support services
  • Engage with students to inspire and facilitate learning
  • Foster a sense of belonging within the school's community
  • Assist students in taking responsibility for their academic progression
  • Develop teaching and learning support resources
  • Monitor student progress and provide support as needed
  • Analyse student difficulties and recommend appropriate support
  • Ensure compliance with academic regulations
  • Provide essential academic support to students
  • Help students find appropriate learning resources
  • Monitor student attendance and identify potential risks
  • Collaborate with support teams to develop a comprehensive support system
  • Support enrolment and induction processes
  • Deal with student misconduct or academic neglect
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures
  • Participate in training and development activities
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff
  • Maintain professional boundaries
  • Contribute to a welcoming and supportive environment for students
  • To Fulfil Responsibilities, the Student Success Tutor Will Provide contact details to students during registration
  • Participate in face-to-face or online induction activities
  • Retain records of meetings or contacts with students
  • Meet or have contact with students at least once per semester
  • Be familiar with available support services
  • Direct students to appropriate support when needed
  • Monitor student progress and provide additional support if necessary
  • Respect student confidentiality
  • Support student development of study skills
  • Respect students' rights to seek or decline support
  • Act as an advocate for students when appropriate
  • Comply with equality and diversity policies
  • Undertake professional development activities
